Aquaponics is becoming popular around the world. It is a way to grow fish and plants together.
In aquaponics, plants grow above fish tanks. Fish waste becomes food for plants. The plants clean the water for the fish. No chemicals are used. People often grow freshwater fish and vegetables.
Aquaponics was shown at Expo Osaka. Thanks to the exhibit, many people in Japan became interested.「アクアポニックス」が世界中で人気を集めています。これは魚と植物を一緒に育てる方法です。
アクアポニックスでは、魚の水槽の上で植物が育ちます。魚の排泄物は植物の栄養になり、植物は魚のために水を浄化します。化学肥料は使いません。一般的に育てられているのは淡水魚と野菜です。

Aquaponics is becoming popular worldwide. It is a farming method used to grow fish and plants together.
In aquaponics, water moves between fish tanks and crop beds. Bacteria break down fish waste into nutrients for the plants. The plants take in these nutrients and clean the water. The system does not need any chemicals or regular water changes. It is often used to grow freshwater fish and vegetables.

Aquaponics is a farming method currently gaining popularity worldwide. It combines aquaculture and hydroponics and employs a system in which fish and plants are cultivated together. The approach was first adopted commercially in the US in the 1980s.
An aquaponics system circulates water between fish tanks and crop beds. Bacteria break down any fish waste into essential nutrients for absorption by the plants. This also purifies the water. Requiring no chemical fertilizers or regular water changes, aquaponics is considered eco-friendly and sustainable. Commonly raised species include freshwater fish such as tilapia and carp, along with leafy vegetables and herbs. Home gardening kits are also available.
Aquaponics was showcased in the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at Expo Osaka. Its large globe-shaped exhibit drew significant attention and helped to raise awareness in Japan.「アクアポニックス」は、現在世界的に人気を集めている農法です。これは水産養殖（アクアカルチャー）と水耕栽培（ハイドロポニックス）を組み合わせたもので、魚と植物を一緒に育てるシステムを使用します。1980年代にアメリカで初めて商業的に取り入れられました。
アクアポニックスのシステムは、魚の水槽と作物栽培ベッドの間で水を循環させる仕組みになっています。微生物が魚の排泄物を分解して必要な栄養素に変え、それを植物が吸収します。これにより水も浄化されます。化学肥料や定期的な水換えを必要としないことから、アクアポニックスは環境に優しく持続可能性が高いと考えられています。一般的に養殖・栽培されているのは、ティラピアや鯉などの淡水魚と、葉物野菜やハーブ類です。家庭栽培用キットも市販されています。
アクアポニックスは大阪・関西万博の大阪ヘルスケアパビリオンで紹介されました。その巨大な地球儀型の展示が大きな注目を集め、日本での認知度アップにつながりました。
